Dental Implants
COSMETIC DENTISTRY
Do you have a missing tooth? Dental Implants are a great solution for people of all ages. Dental Implants are a proven permanent solution for functionality and a natural appearance. If you are missing one or more teeth, then Dental Implants are a popular choice.
Dental Implants are made of medical grade titanium to create a replacement tooth “root”. They are a natural option for replacing a tooth or teeth and can improve the visuals of your smile. Biocompatible titanium is used to make the dental implants, which are accepted by our body as a natural part of our anatomy. The jawbone fuses with the implant to create a permanent foundation for a Crown, Bridge or denture.
Dental Implant use
- A dental implant can replace single teeth or more than one by using one implant per tooth. A ceramic crown is secured to the implant and gives the form and function of a natural tooth.
- They can form part of a full or partial permanent ceramic bridge.
- Dental implants are used as part of securing removable dentures. By using dental implants, your dentures can be more stable and give you more confidence.
What to expect in our dental surgery?
Initially, you will be invited to attend an appointment in order to thoroughly evaluate your needs. Your experienced dentist will conduct a range of diagnostic imaging and soft tissue examinations to establish whether dental implants are the best option for you.
Your next appointment will involve the placement of your implants. The implants will be carefully placed in the jaw bone. This is done using local anaesthetic. For your comfort, we can offer this to be done using Sleep Dentistry (under sedation).
After a healing period of two to six months, you will have a final appointment with us to restore your implant or implants and fix a permanent customised Crown, Bridge or denture. The total time to complete this whole procedure is between four and seven months, depending on your healing time and availability.
Is this therapy right for you?
In order to be able to receive dental implants, your overall health needs to be good and you must have a bone density level to be able to secure the implants. On occasion, additional pre-operative procedures could be performed in order to complete bone grafts to allow for implants. Your dentist will be able to advise you on your options and give you informed choices.
